I purchased this TV as a a spare TV for my bedroom. The picture and the sound quality are good, I don’t have an HD signal running to it, and I can’t complain. One thing that I found out, though, and I’m pretty sure that this is the same on all the TV’s. When using a ROKU player, if you have the powersaving option on, it will interfere with the signal from your Roku remote. No problems with my 27″ tube, just this flatscreen. From talking to the people at Roku, they have heard this problem reported before. So, a heads up.

Other than that, no real complaints. On retrospect, I would have paid the extra $300 to get an LED aith wireless, then I wouldn’t need the Roku at all, and could surf the net in my bedroom. But for a basic television, I couldn’t beat the price. – By Catharsis (Montgomery, AL)

After doing tons of research into different tvs in my budget, I finally settled on the LG LK520. Its a steal for being 120Hz and 1080p. In my mind, if you are going to drop some dough on a tv you might as well buy one with the best specs available. The picture is great and makes me wish I had more HD channels. My xbox 360 looks great on it. The menu is intuitive and the picture set up when you first start is super easy and specific. The stand is a little tipsy but as long as you aren’t chest bumping it, you’ll be fine. I would recommend this product to anyone. – By Tom R.

This TV’s picture quality is gorgeous — crisp, realistic, fast refresh — WOW. You won’t find a a better looking TV picture in this price range. The screen gets really dim in a darkened room because its “Intelligent Sensor” mode is turned on by default. I assume that was necessary for its Energy Star rating, but you’ll almost certainly want to turn it off. The trick is to the picture menu, run through the Picture Wizard and create an Expert Mode profile. From then on, you can use the Quick Menu to tweak the picture controls (brightness, contrast, sharpness, etc) to your heart’s content.

The audio is just OK, nothing great. I’m sure it’s difficult for a manufacturer to fit high quality speakers into such a slim case, but I was a bit disappointed nonetheless. And I don’t see any speaker outputs, either. I keep the sound turned down most of the time anyway, so the mediocre audio quality is not a big deal for me. You might disagree if you’re a serious audiophile.

The controls were a little bit confusing for the first couple of hours (“How do I control the brightness? Oh, I have to create an Expert Mode profile first”), but they didn’t take too long to get used to. At least, most of the information necessary to operate the controls are on the web. LG included a user’s guide for the TV on a CD, but I haven’t even bothered looking at it. Google found answers to my questions. – By S. Freeman (Oregon, USA)
